Brazilpocalypse
The Brazilpocalypse(coined by happyworld392) refers to a massive influx of Brazilian users in August 2020.
Goularte[edit | edit source]
On August 3rd, 2020, a Brazilian youtuber named Goularte uploaded a video involving Your World Of Text. Following this hundreds of Portuguese speaking users flooded into YWOT, overwhelming the site and creating large amounts of lag.
Response[edit | edit source]
The largely english speaking userbase of YWOT reacted negatively towards the arrival of Brazilian users. The lag brought about by the influx only worsened the response.
Very quickly, massive amounts of racist spam were pasted onto spawn, covering ~10 coordinates on all sides and creating even more lag. At the time this was likely one of the largest spam attacks to be seen since the 2015 wipe.
As the situation went on, many Brazilians took to the YWOT discord server in order to voice their complaints against the persistent spam. Despite their worries, however, the general consensus within the server was that there should not be any attempts to control activity within YWOT or its discord, as doing so goes against the spirit of the website.
There were talks of making a new text channel to accommodate Portuguese speakers but such a channel was never created, mainly due to the fact that it would be difficult to moderate.
Mainpage Lockdown[edit | edit source]
On August 10th, 2020 the entirety of YWOT's Mainpage was made read-only. Andrew Badr(the site owner) never elaborated on this decision, though it was likely due to a combination of multiple factors such as:
- The quantity of spam at spawn
- Lag caused by said spam
- Spam in the unofficial discord
- Servers being unable to handle the surge of new users
Shortly after Mainpage was locked down, a script was used to place multiple cursors on the spawn box, spelling out a certain racial slur. Scripts like the one used here, which allowed users to edit uneraseable text, supposedly had a precedent of appearing before. Though by now all of them have either been patched or fallen into obscurity.

Regarding uneraseable text scripts
With front page closed off all activity in YWOT were redirected into subworlds, with /~public and /forexample being the most prominent. None of these were particularly active however, most of the userbase was dormant throughout this period.
The lockdown of Mainpage would last until January 6th, 2021, when Andrew Badr reopened it with the request of Infraraven.
Aftermath[edit | edit source]
Following the reopening of Mainpage YWOT mostly returned to normal. With most of the spam having subsided. Most of the users brought to the site by Goularte have since left as well, though many still remain. To this day the message "Goularte passou por aqui" can be found throughout Mainpage.
